Transition Assistance Program (TAP)

The Transition Assistance Program (TAP) was created to meet the needs of separating service members during their period of transition into civilian life by offering job-search assistance and related services.

TAP insures every member separating or retiring receives their “Congressionally” Mandated Pre-Separation Counseling/completion of DD2648 Checklist. This required briefing MUST be conducted a minimum of 90 days from members date of separation or retirement. Retirees can receive this briefing 2 years from their DOR and separating members can receive 1 year from their DOS.
