NSA Annapolis Carr Creek Marina
Located on Halligan Road at the east end of Naval Support Activity Annapolis on the mouth of the Severn River, the Carr Creek Marina offers a wide variety of recreational boating options at affordable prices.
Carr Creek Marina Slips and Storage:
Moorings are available for boats while dry storage facilities can accommodate boats, RV's and pop-up campers (no automobiles). Haul-out, wash and launch are available by appointment Monday through Friday.
Boat, Canoe and Kayak Rentals:
The Marina also rents power boats, sailboats, canoes and kayaks. The sailing fleet includes 22 and 24-foot sailboats. Rental power boats include 15- and 17-foot Whalers.
Kayak and canoe rentals are available Wednesday through Sunday from mid-May to early September. Please call the Marina at 410-293-3731 for more information.
Carr Creek Marina Sailing Lessons:
Basic keelboat sailing lessons for beginners are given every weekend from mid-May to early September by reservation. Weekend sessions are held Friday evening from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. and all day Saturday and Sunday from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Successful completion earns a "B" qualification card. Lessons cost $220/person and must be booked by reservation. Because of their popularity, a waiting list is maintained throughout the year.
Upgrade and refresher sailing lessons!!! The marina offers two options for customers who took sailing lessons and either received a "Mate A" qualification or those who received a "Skipper B" qualification but have not sailed since they passed the course. Those who did not qualify would upgrade and those who qualified but have not sailed would be able to refresh their skills. A 4-hour (half day) course is offered by appointment on Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays subject to availability of an instructor. A minimum of two people are needed to hold class. Cost is $65 for the half day course (a deal since renting a boat for 4 hours is $68 plus you get and experienced instructor!) If interested, call Carr Creek Marina at 410-293-3731 or 2058 to arrange an appointment.
Kayaking Instructions and Tours:
The Marina offers Kayak Instructions and Tours with certified American Canoe Association Instructors. Lessons will be as demand dictates. Instructions vary from a 1-hour orientation to a 4-hour Touring class. There are sunrise and sunset tours. The basic course is the Smart Start Paddler Orientation. This 1 hour course fee is $18.00 and is required to rent a kayak or canoe. Quickstart Your Kayak is a 3-hour introductory course that will incorporate the Smart Start class and basic maneuvers as well as safety issues. The next class in the series is Kayak Touring. This is a 4-hour class designed to build on the skills learned in the Quick Start class. The marina will also offer 2 hour guided Sunrise and Sunset Tours.
Carr Creek Marina Sunset Tours:
Sunset tours are a two-hour tour on Mill Creek with a certified American Canoe Association instructor. This is a low-key, relaxed paddle. In the course of the tour we will cover all of the information in the "Smart Start Your Kayak" course, so participants will be able to rent from MWR in the future. Tours will be timed to end around sunset. Participants should bring a waterproof white light (a headlamp works well). Participants are welcome to bring their own snacks and beverages for a post paddle picnic.
Unscheduled tours (including sunrise and mid-day tours) and classes are available to groups of three or more, with at least a week's notice. Contact Carr Creek Marina at 410-293-3731 and we will accommodate your schedule.
