staubachThe Naval Base San Diego commissary is on the dry side, and is quite large, but god help you if you go during a busy time. It can get VERY crowded in there, so definitely don't go immediately after payday. I used to go into the commissary to grab a thing or two at lunch and it was no big deal. The deli sandwiches are good and the prices are pretty cheap overall.
