Timelines for Renewal
Service Member and their dependents can receive a new ID Card up to 90 days prior to the expiration date. All other categories to include DoD Civilians can receive renewals up to 30 days from the expiration date.

Sponsor Requirement
The SPONSOR must be PRESENT to issue/renew a family member ID CARD unless the family member has a valid Power of Attorney, a completed notarized DD Form 1172-2 or Sponsor can use Rapids Self Service DS Logon to sign DD1172-2. https://myaccess.dmdc.osd.mil

Identification
All patrons over the age of 18 must provide two (2) forms of GOV. ISSUED ID to issue or renew their card(pistol permits and school ID are NOT acceptable). ID's must be Federal, State, or Local Gov. Issued. RAPIDS will only accept unexpired documents.

Lost/Stolen/Misplaced Documents Required
A police report from local police stating lost Federal ID or West Point Military Police report, and 2 forms of identification, one must be unexpired photo ID.

Multiple ID Cards
Each appointment is scheduled for 20 minutes please arrive on time to ensure you will be seen. If more than one (1) ID is being updated, schedule an additional appointment for each ID.

Adding a Spouse
Original or Certified copies of all documents: State or County issued: Marriage Certificate, and valid not expired photo ID. Federal issued Social Security card.

Foreign Spouse
Follow adding a spouse. In addition, if any documents are issued by a foreign country a translated version of this document needs to be provided. If Social Security card has not arrived, a temporary SSN will be assigned for the first 90 days.

Former Spouse
Army Former spouses must present the following documents, service statement/discharge on former spouse, original marriage certificate, original divorce decree and two (2) forms of ID. Former spouses of other branches must report to that Branch of Service.

Adding Children
Sponsor must have the following documents: original birth certificate and Social Security card. If step-child is being added, marriage certificate is also needed. For dual military, BOTH PARENTS NEED TO BE PRESENT.

Adding Illegitimate Children
Male sponsors adding illegitimate children must bring the following documents; birth certificate, SSN card; court ordered paternity document or voluntary acknowledgement of paternity document, for other than Army the approved dependency determination.

100% Service Connected Disabled American Veteran
Provide letter from VA authorizing commissary, exchange privileges, stating 100% service-connected disabled, whether they have future exams with no financial information on it, DD 214 or discharge papers and 2 forms of ID. For Spouse, see adding a spouse.
