Fort Irwin Directory

Langford Lake Rd, Yermo, CA 92310
Fort Irwin is a National Training Center located within the Mojave Desert in California. It is an ideal location for maneuver training because of its 1,000 square mile size and isolation from major populated areas. The 11th Armored Cavalry Regiment serves as the Opposing Force for the various Army, Marine and foreign military forces that train at Fort Irwin. Presently, the majority of the base training involves counterinsurgency operations with troops from the US and Canada training for warfare in the Middle East. Mock villages and actors in costume, both mimicking what troops could find when forward deployed, are located on base to provide a realistic environment during training operations. The future of Fort Irwin rests on the Fort Irwin Solar Project - the largest renewable energy project in DoD history, set to be in full operation by 2022. This Fort Irwin directory features the critical info you’ll need to navigate through the many facilities and recreational opportunities available on base.
