The Mountain Warfare Training Center is located in the Toiyabe National Forest in California. The Center falls under the jurisdiction of the Marine Air Ground Task Force Training Command. The mission at the Mountain Warfare Training Center is to prepare Marines and Allied Forces for operations in cold and mountainous environments. The base is also used as a development and testing site for cold weather equipment. MWTC has several unique facilities to support it's mission including rock climbing training areas, an avalanche training site and ski lifts.
